We have delivered flood programmes for over 15 years, helping individuals, businesses, and communities to better plan, prepare for and improve their flood resilience.
We have delivered flood programmes for over 15 years, helping individuals, businesses, and communities to better plan, prepare for and improve their flood resilience.
Following the December 2015 floods, we have delivered the North West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) Community Flood Resilience programme across the region. We have worked with many Local Councils and Risk Management Authorities across the North West in delivering this fully funded programme of flood resilience support, to help residents and communities in their areas in becoming more flood resilient.
We can offer tailored packages designed to support and engage communities at flood risk. This includes:
We can help homeowners and residents to improve their resilience to flooding and protect their property: from support with home flood planning and preparation, identification of suitable warning triggers and available service sign-up, as well as independent advice and guidance on protecting property from water ingress and accessing flood insurance cover.

The Flood Hub people can support businesses with flood resilience and continuity planning, flood warning service registration and property flood resilience advice and guidance in accessing business flood insurance cover.
We have worked in partnership with local councils and Risk Management Authorities to support their employees in delivering flood resilience engagement, advice and support. We can also work directly with communities at flood risk to develop community flood action groups and flood plans to enable these communities to better plan and prepare for future floods.
Following Storm Desmond, The Flood Hub people worked with over 2,000 properties in Cumbria, providing flood resilience advice and helping individual residents and businesses to register for the Flood Warning Service, develop home and business flood plans, and better protect their property and possessions against future flood events. The Flood Hub People also supported a number of multi-agency drop-in events, speaking to residents and providing ongoing assistance to those in need. |

We offer bespoke workshops on a range of topics, such as household, community and business flood planning and resilience, property flood resilience and flood group development.
Our team has delivered presentations and workshops for parish councils, community flood groups and County Councils.
An example of our work was delivering a workshop on Flood Groups for Cambridgeshire County Council’s Flood Action Conference. Find out more here:
We can support with the administration and delivery of Local Authority Property Flood Resilience (PFR) grant schemes. We have experience in PFR surveys and are able to provide independent advice on a variety of suitable PFR products, taking into account an individual’s circumstances and requirements (we are not linked to an PFR suppliers).
For example, The Flood Hub People worked in partnership with Carlisle City Council following Storm Desmond in 2015 to provide flood recovery and resilience advice and support residents with the uptake of PFR grants to better protect their homes against future flooding. This work involved engaging with many hard-to-reach communities and individuals, and supporting them through the PFR grant process. This resulted in an increase in take-up of the grant scheme and the implementation of a number of communal schemes funded through the pooling of available grant funding. |
