About Us

The Flood Hub People are flood resilience specialists and the ‘people’ behind The Flood Hub website.

The Flood Hub People is part of Newground CIC, a social enterprise delivering professional services which is committed to delivering quality services in a safe and sustainable way, any profits generated from our activities are gift aided into the charity Newground Together. In 2024, The Flood Hub People brand was established as our clients and communities that we work with simply knew us as The Flood Hub, and rebranding to The Flood Hub People better aligned with the core of our work.

We have delivered flood programmes in partnership with the Environment Agency and Risk Management Authorities for over 15 years, helping individuals, businesses, and communities to better plan, prepare for and improve their flood resilience. We can offer tailored packages that can help with flood planning and preparing, identification of warning triggers, property flood resilience (PFR) advice and more. We can also work directly with communities at flood risk to develop community flood action groups and flood plans to enable these communities to better plan and prepare for future floods. We are also able to deliver bespoke webinars and workshops on behalf of Local Authorities on a range of flood resilience topics. We have recently worked with Cambridgeshire Council on a flood resilience support package, delivering a series of webinars and  workshops for councillors, community groups and members of the public. The activity worksheets which we took away are excellent. Our parish has a Community Flood Plan but it has never been tested. The worksheets provide in depth guidance on what needs to be included in a Flood Plan test with helpful “what if” examples to significantly stretch the commitment of Flood Wardens and other resident volunteers.

Having written content and created resources for over 10 years, we have the expertise and skills to write flood-related content for other websites. We can produce in-depth and detailed written content for websites and booklets on a range of different flood related topics. In addition, we can write and create short and concise infographics which can be used both digitally and as a printed document. Following the December 2015 floods, the team has delivered the North West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) community flood resilience programme across the region.

Our flood programme covers two main areas of work:

  • Direct community engagement and flood resilience support.
  • The Flood Hub – our online ‘one-stop shop’ flood resilience information website.

 

 

The team supports individuals, businesses and communities to manage their flood risk by planning ahead for flooding, developing flood action groups, producing flood plans and gaining knowledge so that they can be better prepared and more resilient to the effects of flooding.

 

The Flood Hub People have written the content on of The Flood Hub website and also developed a vast array of resources that are held in the Knowledge Hub section. These resources have been created as a result of the feedback gained through our engagement with flood affected communities.
